Shehr-e-Khamoshan is first of its kind of the model grave yard at Kacha Road, Kahna, Lahore. It is initiative by Punjab government. Here people can avail funeral and burial related facilities like ghusal, mortuary, jhanazgah & hearse services. In which most of them are free of cost. All the money collected for these services is used for the maintenance of the Shehr-e-Khamoshan.
Grieving families can contact at any time on the toll free number where well trained team will be assisting you according to your need. It is spread over 89 Kanal and has a capacity to accommodate almost 8,000 graves. Heavy machinery is being used by gravediggers. Mortuary consists of 40 freezers where the body can be kept for a few days in the case of any waiting for deceased loved one to arrive for his funeral or for any other valid reason like for identification of a body or any other reason. Shehr-e-Khamoshan will not only give the services but it will also provide the facilities of maintaining the graveyard. Punjab government is planning to expand this to different cities of Pakistan.
