What is YouTube Red? Is It Worth Paying For?

YouTube is the ultimate resort for most of us whenever we need to find some video content. Ever since its release, the basic website has been expanding and has been hosting the biggest database of videos. Even though the website is still in its expansion phase with hundreds of thousands of video uploads each day, the company, on the other hand, is also introducing new services for consumers within the banner of YouTube. One such service is called ‘YouTube Red’, about which, we’ll discuss in this post.
What is YouTube Red?
YouTube Red is a subscription-based online video streaming service. Unlike the main YouTube website, you can’t use this service for free but have to pay for it. The service was introduced in November of 2014 and is available to consumers exclusively in these countries: South Africa, Mexico, Australia, United States of America (USA), New Zealand and South Korea.

The catch in using this service is that it provides ad-free streaming of videos, allows background playback and offline play of videos. But the biggest question here is if it worth paying for this service? Let’s address this question.

Is It Worth Paying For?
Well, to be honest, the answer to this question is based on everyone’s personal preference. Some people might find one thing interesting while others might find it annoying. Nonetheless, there are a number of factors which will easily help you decide if YouTube Red is your way or not.

·         No Ads
With YouTube red, you can get rid of ads once and for all and it liberates you from the frustration of hitting the ‘Skip Ad’ button every time you start watching a video. However, this very factor is based on a person’s own preferences. Some people like watching ads on YouTube as it gives them a good view of what’s in the market and about prices of stuff. On the other hand, some people find them annoying. So, if you prefer to avoid ads, YouTube Red might turn out to be a good option for you.

·         Subscription fee
YouTube offers a 1 month long free trial for the service, after which the user has to pay around $ 10 per month to continue using the service. So, if you think the price is just not to appropriate for you in return for the provided services, do not opt for it.

·         Background playback in YouTube app
In the basic YouTube app, you cannot listen to music or any audio if you close the app. YouTube Red allows you to play music in the background after closing the app or when using some other app. This service is useful for people who like listening to music directly on YouTube instead of downloading.

·         Access to original content
There are a number of shows and movies etc. not available on YouTube’s original website but can be accessed through YouTube Red’s subscription. So, if you are bored YouTube’s content and looking for new shows, you can go for this service.
In the end, I would just like to say that the service can be worth it if it suits your personal preferences but can be worthless if you don’t find it useful.
